PSX price alert: set a free one in SuperX Charts

How to set a free PSX price alert in SuperX Charts: on a price, a drawn line, a percent move, unusual volume or a circuit lock. Limits stated plainly.

A PSX price alert (PSX price alert kaise lagayen) tells you when a stock reaches a price you chose, so you do not have to watch the screen. In SuperX Charts, which is free and needs no account, you open a symbol in Pro, press A, choose Price level, type the price, choose rises to, falls to or crosses, either way, and click Set alert. The same panel also alerts on a drawn line, a percent move, unusual volume, a circuit limit and new filings. A browser tab checks alerts while it is open. As of 18 October 2026 the server can also check up to 200 alerts per device with the tab closed, if you switch that on.

What kinds of PSX alert can you set?

SuperX Charts has seven kinds of alert. Its alerts guide lists them, and the table below repeats the guide’s wording with a plain example of each.

KindIt fires whenA plain example
Price levelthe price rises to, falls to or crosses a levelOGDC rises to Rs 310
A drawing’s linethe close crosses a line you drewthe close crosses your trend line
Indicator (Formula)a formula is true on a barrsi(close, 14) > 70
Percent movethe price moves a percent from the previous close or from today’s opena move of 3% from the previous close
Volume spikethe volume reaches a multiple of its averagevolume reaches 3 times its average
Circuit limitthe price is at its upper or lower limitthe share is locked at its upper limit
Results and filingsa new results filing, dividend, book closure, notice or news item appearsa new notice for the company

You can also type the alert as a sentence. The guide’s example is “tell me if HBL closes above its 200-day average”. English and Roman Urdu both work. The panel reads the sentence back to you first, and only the Arm this alert button makes it live.

How do you set a price alert on a PSX stock?

The guide gives five steps. Pro is on for everyone, and the guide states that every tool is free today.

  1. Open a symbol in Pro. OGDC on a one-year daily chart is a good one to practise on.
  2. Click Alerts or press A.
  3. In Alert on, choose Price level.
  4. Type the price, then choose rises to, falls to or crosses, either way.
  5. Choose Once, or Every time (at most once a bar), then click Set alert.

The alert appears in a list with its state: armed, or fired and when. A right-click on the chart also offers a new alert at that price.

A worked example. The OGDC share page read on 18 October 2026 says OGDC closed at Rs 299.10 on 16 October 2026, down 1.04% on the day. To be told if it trades back to Rs 310, choose rises to and type 310. For Rs 290, choose falls to. The levels are arbitrary numbers for the mechanics, not targets and not advice.

A Once alert stops after it fires, and Arm again sets it a second time. Every time fires at most once a bar, so on a daily chart that is one notice a day at most.

How do you get an alert when the price crosses a line you drew?

Draw a line, a ray or a channel, click it to select it, and click the bell in the bar over it. The alert fires when the close crosses the line. Two details in the guide are worth knowing:

  • A line that ends before the newest bar has nothing to cross, so no alert can fire on it. A ray or an extended line runs on to the right, and that is the kind to use for an alert.
  • A line on 2-hour or longer intraday bars is checked in the tab only, never on the server.

The capability notes list the lines an alert can follow: a trend line, a ray, an extended line, a horizontal line, a channel side and a pitchfork median. Because the alert fires on the close, an intraday wick through the line does not count.

What about percent-move, volume and circuit-limit alerts?

These three are the quick way to watch for something unusual without picking a price first.

  • Percent move. You choose a percent, measured from the previous close or from today’s open.
  • Volume spike. The alert fires when volume reaches a multiple of its average. Volume can be large or thin on a day a share is locked at its limit, so read the day before you act on a notice.
  • Circuit limit. The alert fires when the price is at its upper or lower limit. PSX sets a daily band for each share, and the post on upper and lower locks explains how the band works.

For a daily view of which shares are at their limits or trading unusual volume, the terminal also publishes a list for the last session at superx.pk/terminal/s/today. On the 16 October 2026 page, for example, Bannu Woollen Mills (BNWM) closed up 10.01% at Rs 66.19 on 53.2 times its usual volume, and the page lists the shares that closed at their upper limit that day.

Do PSX alerts work when the tab is closed?

They can, if you turn on the server check. In the Alerts panel, switch on Notify me when the tab is closed, allow notifications when the browser asks, and click Send a test. A test notice should arrive. From then on the server checks your alerts on its own bars and sends a notice to that browser.

What the server does and does not check:

  • Each alert in the list says on the server or in this tab only, with the reason.
  • A formula alert is checked in the tab only. A line on 2-hour or longer intraday bars is too.
  • The server holds at most 200 alerts for each device. Turning the switch off deletes them from the server at once.
  • On an iPhone or iPad, a closed tab gets notices only from the Home Screen: in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen, and open SuperX Charts from there.

A second switch in the watchlist panel, off at first, sets one server alert per listed symbol: a 5% move from the previous close, once a session. Your own alerts come first inside the 200 limit.

What is not proven or not on yet

From SuperX Charts’ own notes, read on 18 October 2026, three things need saying plainly.

  1. The server alerts went live on 11 October 2026, according to the project’s status notes. The same notes still list the team’s own phone check as open: setting an alert on an Android phone, closing the tab, and seeing a real cross arrive. Treat push with a closed tab as new, and press Send a test before you rely on it.
  2. The server design notes say there are limits per device: 200 alerts, 30 pushes an hour and 300 a day, and a device not seen for 180 days is deleted together with its alerts. Notices are in English for now.
  3. Alerts live on the device. SuperX Charts has no accounts, so an alert you set on your laptop does not appear on your phone. The terminal’s “Your work as one file” export moves layouts, drawings and the watchlist. Whether that file carries alerts is not confirmed, so check before you depend on it.

The guide lists three ways an alert reaches you: a notice in the page, a browser notification and an optional tone. It lists no email, SMS or WhatsApp alert, and the terminal is a web app, not a native phone app.

How does this compare with TradingView’s free plan and broker apps?

TradingView’s pricing page, checked on 18 October 2026, lists the number of active price alerts by plan. The free Basic plan shows 3. Essential shows 20, Plus 100 and Premium 400. The paid plans also list multi-condition alerts and alerts that do not expire. I confirmed the 20, 100 and 400 figures in the page’s own HTML. The Basic figure of 3 comes from one reading of the page, and other websites quote different Basic numbers, so check the page yourself before you plan around it.

TradingView is the stronger tool for alerts on global markets, and it has a native phone app. SuperX Charts is the one that is free with no account, covers the exchange’s own circuit limits and filings, and understands a Roman Urdu sentence. The full comparison, with every figure dated, is in TradingView vs SuperX Charts for PSX stocks.

Broker apps: the site’s comparison with broker apps says most of them have price alerts. This post makes no claim about any broker’s limits, delay or fees; check them with your broker.

SuperX Charts publishes no measured delay between a trade on PSX and an alert, so treat an alert as a nudge to look at the chart, not a tool for reacting within seconds.

Where do you set your first alert?

Pick a share you already follow, open it in Pro, and set one alert at a level you can explain to yourself. The HBL and OGDC share pages give a dated close you can use as a starting point. On this site, the OGDC chart page and the KSE-100 page show the same history in a lighter view.

Open OGDC in SuperX Charts, press A and set your first alert

Frequently asked questions

Is a PSX price alert free in SuperX Charts?

Yes. SuperX Charts is free today and needs no account, and the guide says every tool of Pro is free. The server holds at most 200 alerts per device.

How many alerts can I set?

The server holds at most 200 alerts for each device. The guide states no separate cap for alerts that a tab checks, so I make no claim about that number.

Can I get an alert when a PSX stock hits its upper circuit?

Yes. Choose the Circuit limit kind and the alert fires when the price is at its upper or lower limit. The Pulse panel and the last-session page also list the shares at their limits.

Will I get a notice if my phone is locked or the browser is closed?

Only if you switch on Notify me when the tab is closed, allow notifications and press Send a test. On an iPhone, the notice works only from a Home Screen app. The team’s own phone test was still open on 18 October 2026.

Does an alert on my trend line fire on a wick?

No. An alert on a drawn line fires when the close crosses the line. A line that ends before the newest bar has nothing to cross.
