PSX announcements: how to read company notices
PSX company announcements by type: board meetings, results, book closure, material information, AGMs. What each means for a holder, with a real notice.
PSX announcements (psx announcements kaise parhein) are filed by listed companies and published on the exchange’s portal at dps.psx.com.pk/announcements, under a “Companies Announcements” tab beside CDC, SECP, NCCPL and PSX notices. Company notices fall into a few types: a board-meeting notice, financial results with any dividend, bonus or right, a book-closure notice, material (price-sensitive) information, and AGM or briefing notices. For a shareholder, the results notice matters most, because it carries the profit, the per-share payout and the dates that decide who gets paid. This post goes through each type and then reads one real notice line by line.
Where do PSX announcements appear?
The exchange’s announcements page, checked by SuperX on 19 October 2026, offers five tabs: CDC Notices, SECP Notices, Companies Announcements, NCCPL Notices and PSX Notices. It also has a keyword search, a company symbol selector and a month-and-year filter. Each row has a date, a symbol and a title.
Two other places show the same filings, and the company’s own investor page is a third:
- SuperX’s stock pages. A stock page has a “filings and reports” section that groups the documents a company has published (annual reports, corporate briefings, half-yearly and quarterly accounts, financial results). The ones filed with PSX are marked PSX, and each link opens the original PDF.
- The charting terminal. SuperX Charts puts marks on the price bars: D for an ex-dividend date, B for a book closure, bonus, rights or split, R for a results filing, R? for the next results window, E for a notice of the exchange, T for a name change, and N for news. Pointing at a mark opens a card, and a results card links the filing. The marks are listed in the guide to the Pulse and PSX facts.
What kinds of company announcement are there?
The rules come from the PSX Regulations. SuperX read the exchange’s own Guidance Notes for Listed Companies on continuous disclosure, dated 6 July 2023. Regulations can be amended after that date, and SuperX did not check for later changes, so treat the clause numbers as a starting point.
| Type of notice | What the rules say (2023 guidance) | What it means for a holder |
|---|---|---|
| Board meeting | A company must tell the exchange at least one week ahead (the meeting day is not counted) of a board meeting on quarterly or annual accounts, or on any entitlement for holders (Regulation 5.9.2) | A date by which the profit and any dividend will be known. No decision yet |
| Financial results and entitlement | Sent to the exchange straight after the meeting ends, or in the pre-open of the next working day (Regulation 5.6.8) | Profit, earnings per share, and whether a cash dividend, bonus or right is proposed |
| Book closure | At least seven days’ notice to the exchange before the share register closes (Regulation 5.5.11(a)). Closure may not exceed 30 days in total in a year, per the guidance | The dates that decide who is on the register. See ex-date, book closure and record date |
| Material information | Anything that could reasonably be expected to materially affect the value of the shares must go out through PUCARS, the exchange’s filing system, before it goes to the media (Regulations 5.6.1 to 5.6.3) | A deal, a rumour clarified, a court matter. Read the text; the title is often short |
| Insider dealing | Directors, the CEO, substantial shareholders and executives must report their trades through the company secretary, and a closed period bars directors and executives from dealing before results (Regulation 5.6.4) | Who has been buying or selling, and the weeks when insiders are barred |
| AGM and corporate briefing | AGM within 120 days of the financial year end; at least one corporate briefing session a year (Regulations 5.7.1, 5.7.3) | The date a final dividend is declared, and a presentation of results to analysts |
| Dividend or bonus credited | The company must tell the exchange once dividends or bonus shares are credited (Regulations 5.6.10, 5.8.2) | The payment is done. Cash is due within 10 working days of the AGM for a final dividend, or of book-closure start for an interim one |
A typical dividend runs: board-meeting notice, results notice, book closure, AGM, credit. The dividend explainer covers how “50%” becomes rupees.
What do the entitlement words mean?
A results notice states the entitlement in three forms. A cash dividend is paid in rupees, usually quoted as a percentage of face value. The bonus shares guide explains why a bonus pays in shares, not cash, and why the price adjusts. A right issue is an offer to buy new shares, usually at a set price. The right shares guide covers the choice to subscribe, sell or lapse. A company can state any mix, and “nil” against a form means none.
An interim dividend is paid during the financial year. A final dividend is proposed after the year ends and approved at the AGM.
How do you read one real notice? The Hub Power Company, 27 August 2026
The Hub Power Company (HUBC) filed its financial results for the year ended 30 June 2026 on 27 August 2026. SuperX read the cover letter and the unconsolidated profit and loss page; the document is 21 pages. SuperX’s record shows a board-meeting notice for it on 19 August, eight days before the meeting, in line with the one-week rule.
| What the notice says | In plain words |
|---|---|
| Board met Thursday 27 August 2026 at 10:00 and approved the audited accounts for the year ended 30 June 2026 | The results date |
| Final cash dividend of Rs 5 per share, i.e. 50% | 50% of a Rs 10 face value is Rs 5. For example, 400 shares give Rs 2,000 before tax |
| Interim dividends of Rs 15 per share (150%) already paid in the year | The Rs 5 is on top of Rs 15 paid earlier, so the year’s cash payout is Rs 20 per share |
| Bonus and right shares: nil | No new shares in this announcement |
| AGM on Tuesday 20 October 2026 at 10:00 in Karachi | The meeting at which the final dividend is approved |
| Entitlement goes to names on the register on Monday 12 October 2026 | The date that decides who is paid |
| Books closed Tuesday 13 October to Tuesday 20 October 2026, both days included | The register is frozen for this window |
| Transfers received at the registrar by 5 pm on 12 October are treated in time | The cut-off for the register |
On the profit and loss page, the company’s unconsolidated profit for the year was Rs 24,467,399 thousand (about Rs 24.5 billion), and basic and diluted earnings per share were Rs 18.86, against Rs 14.71 in the year before. Unconsolidated means the parent company alone, so group figures sit elsewhere in the attachment. The same page shows dividend income of Rs 29,306,367 thousand and no revenue line for 2026.
Under T+1 settlement, a share bought on Friday 9 October settles on Monday 12 October, in time for the register. A share bought on Monday 12 October settles on Tuesday 13 October, too late. SuperX’s dividend data, as of 11 October 2026, therefore carried 12 October as the expected ex-date and 9 October as the buy-by date, flagged as not confirmed because they are worked out from the notice, not stated by it. The HUBC dividend page shows the current status. The HUBC stock page lists the filing and the other documents.
A short checklist for any notice
- Who and when. Check the company and the date, and whether it was filed on the day of the meeting or in the next morning’s pre-open.
- What type. Is it a meeting notice (nothing decided), or an outcome (something decided)?
- The entitlement. Cash, bonus, right, or nil. Convert a percentage to rupees using the face value.
- The dates. Entitlement date or closure start, closure end, AGM. Work out the buy-by date from them.
- The attachments. The cover letter is a summary; the accounts are in the PDF.
- Interim versus final. Add earlier payments to see the full-year payout.
Frequently asked questions
Where can I find PSX announcements?
On the PSX data portal at dps.psx.com.pk/announcements, which has tabs for companies, CDC, SECP, NCCPL and PSX notices. SuperX’s stock pages and the SuperX Charts terminal show the same company filings.
How much notice must a company give before a board meeting on results?
The 2023 PSX guidance says at least one week for a board meeting on quarterly or annual accounts or on an entitlement. The day of the meeting does not count. Check the current regulations for any later change.
What is the difference between a results notice and a book-closure notice?
The results notice states the profit and the proposed entitlement. The book-closure notice, or the closure lines inside the results notice, states the dates when the share register is frozen to find out who is paid.
What is price-sensitive or material information?
It is information that could reasonably be expected to materially affect the value of the shares or an investor’s decision. The guidance says it must be released through the exchange first, before it goes to the media.
Does an announcement mean I will be paid?
Not by itself. A board proposal for a final dividend is approved at the AGM, and only holders on the register for the entitlement date are paid. Read the dates before the amount.
