Investing on your own without a second pair of eyes is the most expensive mistake retail investors make. The Coach is Equivest’s structured pass on your live portfolio — every time you open the app.

What it actually checks

Eight analyzers, all deterministic (no random hot takes):

Position concentration — flags when any single name is 30%+ or 40%+ of your portfolio. Single-name risk is the #1 cause of retail blow-ups.
Sector concentration — flags when 50%+ of you sits in one sector. The Cement crash of FY24 wiped a lot of people who didn’t notice the tilt.
vs KSE-100 — your portfolio’s weighted change today minus the benchmark. Beating it by 1% means something is working; lagging by 1% means something is dragging.
Cash posture — too much (40%+) is opportunity cost; too little (<5%) is no dry powder when an opportunity appears.
Halal-mix conflict — if you’ve turned on the Halal-only filter but your portfolio still holds non-compliant names, the Coach calls it out.
Holding count — under 3 is concentrated, over 25 is essentially an index. Both have a cost.
Big movers — anything you hold that moved 5%+ today gets a spotlight so you can read the news.
Top performer — your best position up 25%+ from entry gets a “your conviction paid off” note.

Where you see it

Home banner — the single highest-priority insight surfaces as a coloured banner just under the whale tracker. Tap → full feed.
Settings → Coach → Portfolio coach — the full feed, sorted by priority (alerts → warnings → opportunities → info).

Severity colour-coding

🔴 ALERT (red) — needs immediate attention. Halal-only conflict, 40%+ concentration.
🟡 WARNING (amber) — should review. Sector tilt, single-name 30%+, low cash, holding too few names.
🟢 OPPORTUNITY (green) — positive surface. Beating benchmark, high cash to deploy, big rally.
🔵 INFO (cyan) — useful to know. Top performer callout, holding too many names.

What it is NOT

Not investment advice. The Coach surfaces structural observations. It doesn’t tell you what to buy or when. It tells you what’s unusual about how your portfolio is shaped.
Not an LLM (yet). This version is rules-based — every threshold is in source code, no black-box hallucination risk. The LLM upgrade is plug-compatible: the same CoachInsight shape comes out, just with richer prose.
Not a one-off setup. Insights regenerate every time you open the screen, based on live prices + your current positions. Yesterday’s portrait isn’t today’s.

Why rules-based first

An LLM with no guardrails on Pakistani retail context would hallucinate. A deterministic analyzer that knows your concentration math, your sector tilt, your KSE-100 delta — gives you accurate observations today and a rock-solid prompt-template substrate for the LLM tomorrow.

When we add the LLM, the same eight analyzers feed into it as facts. The LLM’s job is to phrase the observations conversationally and answer follow-up questions — not to invent the numbers.
